The Place where I grew up was just a regular place -- or so I thought. It had a lot of dirt with a liberal mix of rocks and grass added for texture. Of course there were roads, telephone poles an houses just like every other neighborhood in town. But, although I was unaware of it as a kid, it turns out that the area around Puddle dock was also made up of a great deal of history. It's awfully easy for a kid to look around a place and just assume that it has always looked this way and always will. There have been many changes to this locality over the generations and the twentieth century proved to be and especially colorful period of time for the old neighborhood by the sea.
