Instead, she used her prominence as First Lady to press for civil rights and social justice at home and abroad. Roosevelt was politically cutting-edge, and time has shown her to be on the right side of history. She was born privileged and sought to share those privileges! She strived to make our nation ever more democratic! Eleanor Roosevelt tirelessly devoted herself to making this country live up to its best image of itself. She may be only 4" tall as a finger puppet, but few men or women ever achieve her stature!
