This rare, large, eighteenth-century Chinese export dish is decorated with two so-called "woolly sheep" beneath a large spray of flowers. Dishes of this service are thought to have been owned by the family of Gov. John Wentworth (1737-1820) of New Hampshire. Other examples are in the collections of the New Hampshire Historical Society, Historic New England, and Strawbery Banke Museum, as well as in private collections.
